Next Meeting: 4th May 7.00 pm
Our P&C Association is a very important part of the school, which needs the full support of all parents. The P&C provides the necessary link between the school and parents by being the public forum for discussions affecting the school’s educational and administrative programs.
Membership
P&C membership is open to all parents and caregivers of children attending the school and to citizens being over the age of eighteen years who are interested in the work of the association. Membership fee is only $1 per person per year and can be paid prior to the opening of any P&C meeting (this is separate to the P&C voluntary contribution).
Aims of the Association
As stated in our constitution, the objects of our P&C Association are:
- To promote the interests and moral, physical, social and educational welfare of the ychildren of Kinross Primary School.
- To endeavour to bring about cooperation between the parents or guardians of the children attending the school, other citizens, the teachers at the school and the children, and to foster community interest in educational matters.
- To participate in the formulation of the educational policy and operations of Kinross Primary School to the extent prescribed by regulations.
Services provided by Kinross P&C
- Uniform Shop – Our uniform shop is staffed entirely by volunteers and is open every Tuesday morning from 8:15am to 9:00am and Thursday afternoon from 2:30pm to 3:15pm. The uniform shop sells new school uniforms only. (Second hand uniforms can be accessed via the lost property collection – see the front office staff).
- School Canteen – The canteen is staffed by some paid employees and many volunteers. It offers a recess and lunch menu that endeavours to both interesting and nutritious. New volunteers are always welcome.
- Fundraising – The P&C has a voluntary contribution currently set at $25 per family. The voluntary contribution was introduced to minimise the level of fundraising. Fundraising activities are spaced throughout the year including activities that provide a community service (eg Disco). Funds raised through the P&C voluntary contribution allow parents to decide, through the P&C, what areas within the school they see as being a priority, whether it be sports equipment, reading materials, library materials, information, communication technology equipment or other playground equipment.
- P&C News – This school newsletter contains P&C Assn information and aims to keep the school community informed about P&C activities, highlight positive aspects of our achievements, and include articles that may be of interest to parents.
- Volunteers - The P&C rely heavily on volunteers to keep the organisation going. This includes areas such as the school canteen and uniform shop. If you can spare even just a few hours a week or month, come and join one of the groups. Your help would always be appreciated. To help in the uniform shop or canteen simply come and say hello to one of the volunteers.
