Dear staff, parents, students and community members

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the Kinross community and to extend a warm welcome back to Term 2. To all our new students and parents a special welcome to Kinross PS.

I spent my first day at Kinross visiting all the classrooms and meeting the staff and children. My first impressions were that we have an amazing school, full of exciting and enthusiastic people.

One of the common questions the children asked me was where have I come from and have I been a Principal before. So here’s a little bit about me:

The past two years I have been working at the Western Australian Government Schools’ Leadership Centre. My job there was to work with Principals and leaders across Western Australia on Instructional Leadership and Leadership development. Before that I have been Principal of a number of schools both in the city and the country. The last was Cooloongup Primary School in Rockingham.

I am involved in a number of Department of Education and Training system reference groups such as the AEDI reference group, 0-8 Early Learning strategy and the On Entry Assessment group. I am also a Western Australian Primary Principals’ Association Board member with Curriculum as my portfolio. Hopefully this involvement will give Kinross PS an opportunity to voice their views to these groups as well as being at the forefront with any initiatives, strategies and programs that are being developed in this exciting and important area.

Finally, thank you to all the staff, parents and especially the kids who made my first day at Kinross very special. Even being the Principal on their first day is very scary and nervy. It is so easy though when you have so many people smiling and saying hello.

I look forward to meeting with you all over the coming weeks and working closely with you and the P&C to make Kinross an exciting environment for your kids to flourish.
